Senior Urban Water Modelling + Data Engineer

Dr Christian Urich has 10 years’ experience in integrated urban water modelling, data analytics, and GIS software development. Christian has extensive experience in the development of novel decision support systems that integrate data, climate change, urban development, urban heat, flood and water cycle models to support urban water planning.

Prior to joining HARC, Christian was the Project Leader for the Tools and Products program for the Water Sensitive Cities Cooperative Research Centre (WSC CRC), leading the development of web-based online and GIS tools to support the planning and design of water sensitive precincts and cities. Christian has led and contributed to the application of these tools nationally and internationally. To date, outputs and insights from these tools have been applied in cities and municipalities in Austria, Australia, Indonesia, Fiji and China to support the development of sustainable urban water management.

Christian has published internationally recognised research in 32 journal articles, 2 book chapters and more than 30 publications in conference proceeding and has contributed to open-source software such as QGIS and GDAL.
