Rachel Barrett has over 5 years of experience in engineering consulting, a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the University of Auckland, and a Master in Environmental Engineering from ETH Zurich in Switzerland.
Rachel’s professional experience started in an engineering consultancy in Auckland, where she gained skills in flood and dambreak modelling, dam safety, stormwater management, and geotechnical engineering.
During her Master’s degree in Switzerland, and her subsequent work there, Rachel specialised in water resources engineering and urban water management. She wrote her thesis on the spatial modelling of rain-induced infiltration into sewers.
Rachel has experience in a number of different water models (including MIKE11, HEC-RAS, RORB, EPA-SWMM), GIS tools (ArcMap and QGIS), and programming languages (MATLAB and R).
